My mom and I took a train through the Channel Tunnel to Paris for the weekend. It was freezing! But it was a great sight-seeing trip. We took in all the big sights and were surprised to find the Christmas market already set up in mid-November!
Day 1: We enjoyed the Musee d'Orsay. After which we made it to the Eiffel Tower where we stood in queue for about an hour in the freezing cold!!!! And took the elevator to the top. Stood outside long enough to take a few quick photos, check out the scene, and then quickly recoil to the warm elevator to head back down and to the warm hotel!
Day 2: We spent a long full day at the Louvre. I really should get my mum to make a few comments because I've just gotten behind and I forget too much!!! And I think she really enjoyed the museum. We walked, and walked, and walked! And when we left the museum we walked through the Tuileries and onto the Champs Alyssa where we stumbled upon the Christmas market! What a fun treat!
Day 3: Sunday! We went to our church there in Paris. There were 8 missionaries serving in that branch. Two sets spoke French and another two sets were serving there in Paris speaking Chinese. It's just so cool. After that we went to another church....Notre Dame! I'm not sure if my mom liked it as much as me, but I sure love Notre Dame. It just doesn't fail to impress me! It's so amazing. And the stained glass windows are stunning!
Day 4: We went up to Sacre Coeur. I'm not sure that I have much good to say. Let me explain. 30 seconds after taking a picture of my mum with my iPhone, I was pick-pocketed. What an awful experience. The thing is, everywhere you go in Europe you're warned to beware of pick-pocketers. This isn't something new to me, I'm used to the warning, and trying to be careful! Regardless, I'd been had! I just so wish I could see a replay of how they did it. I felt like I was in the movie, "Now You See Me." Luckily for us, this was the last day of our trip and we were on a train back home to London that afternoon.
Oh! And my mom got a scare on our last day too! The UK border patrol official sure gave her a hard time. They asked her a ton of questions and required proof of her return flight to the US (which she didn't carry with her) and just gave her a big scare. As if she was trying to stay in the UK forever. OH BROTHER!
Despite the trouble. How can you not enjoy Paris? So much to see, and I we didn't even see half of it.
**I would have more photos, but did I mention my iPhone was stolen?
Oh, I did.
