We had a great day at the London Temple with A.J.
A.J. is a sweet young man with a tender heart and a loving spirit. He loves to serve and help others. We feel so blessed to have A.J. in the temple with us. We are so grateful for his choices through his youth that have brought him here today. And we look forward to all the stories and adventures we'll hear from his full-time church mission that begins in just a few weeks! We've been here for nearly two years, and we head up to London almost weekly. It's like our new home, we love it here. And truly, it never disappoints. There's always something happening in London. Well today was just the same. Jason's mom and I headed up to London near Hyde Park to check out some museums, we checked out the LDS church there at Hyde Park. We also checked out Buckingham Palace and Green Park, then we took the underground toward the Tower of London so we could walk across the Tower Bridge on our way back to London Bridge Station to go home. Just as we walked over the bridge we heard strange beeping. I don't know how many times I've walked across this bridge, and I have never timed it just perfectly so I can observe the bridge open. Do you realize it's still a working drawbridge? Seriously, so cool! We were in the perfect place, turned around, and got front row seats to this awesome spectacle! Then we walked near Westminster Abbey and Big Ben when we run into a parade. Seriously, a parade! So cool. Amazing! Truly, London is always a treat!
We have another 10-12 in a bag. Those heavy magnets high up on the fridge or the radiator never stood much of a chance once they fell off and hit the tile floor. We enjoyed collecting these!
Our goal on this Saturday was to make it to three destinations: Stratford Upon Avon (birthplace of William Shakespeare). Burton on Water (just a cute little village) and finally Worcestershire to see the Gadfield Elm Chapel (the worlds first LDS chapel). We started our adventure early that morning only to be greeted in Stratford by RAIN! And quite a lot of it. Grandma and Emily took the Shakespeare house tour while the rest of us walked about. We went shop to shop quickly to get in from the rain for which we were unprepared! It was a bit of a soggy mess. But once we were done there, we got in the car and headed to Bourton on Water. The drive alone was just beautiful! But Bourton on Water was a treat. We shouldn't have waited until our last month to explore this area of England. Quintessential British villages! I LOVED it here. Mostly we just walked around, grabbed some fish-n-chips, and some ice cream, Jason and AJ checked out a little car museum, it was just so relaxed and lovely. From there we headed to Worcestershire (FYI this is pronounced worstesher, sort of like Leicestershire Square in London is pronounced lestershire) interesting, isn't it.
The Gadfield Elm Chapel is a unique church historical site. Unlike most sites, there were no missionaries there to help or teach, just this small little vacant old chapel in the middle of nowhere. But to enter, there was a code on the door, and to get the password, you had to know answers to various church questions. That was fun! We enjoyed learning the history of this cute little chapel. And since living in London, we have really learned and better appreciate the strength the church gained in those formative years because of the great sacrifice of the British saints. It is just amazing to see how prepared they were to hear the restored truths of Jesus Christ, and their willingness to sacrifice so much to join the saints in America. When you love Harry Potter as much as this crew does, you make it to the Warner Bros studio in Watford just as often as you can. This is the Tucker's second trip, we had to bring this amazing woman. She has spent many many hours reading some of the books to our kids on our beach vacations. It was time to pay her back! This is just such a fun place!
