The musical fireside was last night it went awesome. The assistants to the president said that it was the song he had been looking forward to the whole time. Most of the others were kind of louder more intense songs. I made it my goal to bring the spirit to the meeting. So many people came up to me afterwards. One of the sister missionaries said a little girl behind her was singing along. Gotta love the Children't songbook. Many people had heard the second song, "I'll walk with you" it's easier to sing in to a microphone at the baptism than in front of so many people last night.

Happy Father's Day. I am so grateful for my dad, all the time. His patience with me is so great, he would just sit and listen to me talk for hours. You could just really understand me and my struggles with dyslexia. We have been teaching a guy named Eric. I was able to get him excited about the gospel and his baptism is set for July 11th. Stake conference is this week, so I don't really know who's in this ward and who's not yet. This new area is a little dusty town called Pahrump. My area starts here and goes to California, but Death Valley is technically in another area. We can go there with a member driving us. I've been trying to use Siri to write to you, but it's difficult because there's always too much background noise, and she misunderstands me a lot and puts in words that I'm not saying, so I have to type a lot. I ran out of money, my last companion ate out all the time and we were always far from home at lunchtime. Ah well, I gotta a little more than a week left in this month, and I will have been out for a year in 10 days! (BTW I'm a bout to yell at Siri) My new companion and I have been doing a lot of serving lately. I enjoy working hard and I have been teaching more and better now that I have a companion that wants to work hard. I have been more bold with extending commitments and exercising faith. I have been working out hard too with my companion, Elder Mikels every morning. So apparently, Elder Mikels' family moved while he was out on his mission, and his family's home is just behind ours like a mile apart. Spiders! You've heard about the spiders in Iraq, right? Uncle George has seen a few, I saw one the other day on the wall. I sprayed it with a water gun and smashed it with a stick after attacking the end of the stick multiple times. Yes, I have been working hard on missionary work, and loving it! My trainer went home last Monday, i think. I'll attach a photo of Elder Marshall here. I'm being transferred today to Pahrump, NV. It's near the California border about an hour and a half west of Vegas. I've been taking the acid medicine, but it still hurts from time to time, and in the morning it's pretty bad. I didn't respond to the news of Gracie Berrett's call, she'll be a great missionary. I heard Jake Larimer got his call as well.
I'm almost done packing up, but I'm waiting on some laundry to be done. I have a quite a few pictures and videos to send to you. I got a Nevada flag now, which is harder than it looks to find, considering Walmart doesn't even have them. It's pretty cool. One thing I learned in Europe and traveling that is great is I've learned how to pack a bag well. The musical fireside is coming up, I will be singing two songs with the guitar, so pray for me there will be like 300+ people there. So pray for me. My crazy week started out last night about 12am when I went to the ER. They say they think I have a weak stomach lining and gave me a stage 3 ant-acid and some pain killers which are the only reason I could sleep. The stuff is working so far, but I'm still scared to eat. It's a sad thing to say, but it's true. I'm afraid of how I will feel after every meal. But wait, my week gets better, turns out we have fruit flies and that was a super fun problem to solve! Well, I haven't been bit by a dog yet. My companion got bit by a big parrot and he din't have as quick of a reaction as I would have! Ha ha ha. He's doing well (the parrot) :D Sadly, though, no great stories for this week. We've been at an investigator's helping him move out.
Oh, something kind of cool. Cutler Reynolds is the brother of the lead singer of Imagine Dragons. he's in the YSA ward, and a great return missionary. He's so involved and he says he will come and knock doors with us whenever we call. That's kind of cool. Transfers are on June 15th. It would be nice to send some pictures home, but I'll need an adapter for this new iPad. And look, 😜 we got emoji's haha I will be going to the doctor today, my eating problem has gotten much worse. The pain isn't going away as quickly as before, and it's been hindering my work lately. It's pretty bad. So, I'll tell you what it is when I find out. I'm glad Jaxon is ok with going to summer school. I would NOT be, he is awesome. Dallin made a goal in soccer?!!! Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo huuuuuu ooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllll Good job Dallin, did he push them all down. I love that kid. A million times better then any video game. I wish I could have seen it. Tell Jane to keep dancing and when it comes to her missionary work I have found that love is the most effective form of encouragement. I found a Spanish app for us, it feels like a game, so I've been doing that in my spare time so Janae and I can speak secret stuff right in front of you. We could say right in front of you what we're getting you for Christmas and you would not know. Hahaha love you all ps feel free to right longer emals now I have all as I have all P-day to respond and all week to read them! But my missionary work is my first priority and I'll let you know if it's ever too long 😋 Sent from my iPad Elder Tuker Elder Tucker didn't share any explanation about his diagram, but it's such a wonderful example of how his brain works. He's told us many times that he sees the world around him with like a blueprint overlay, check it out. It sounds like we may be getting iPads before next Monday. So we read scriptures on them and we will be able to read our emails all week long, but will only be able to reply on our P-Day. This means you can send longer emails as I will have more time to read them and it won't take up my writing home time. Garland leaves for jail today. We saw him a week ago and he was so different. He wasn't quite the same optimist anymore. He was drunk and bitter and last night when we saw him he had come to terms with everything and was excited and ready for when he goes in and has things ready for when he gets out. So a great blessing, he's enduing it well. Mikaya is still progressing and doing well. I brought up baptism again, she's working on learning. She said she knows it's true but that she doesn't want to rush it though. So that is great also. Elder Tucker sang in church for the first time, check it out. It was so nice to hear, as a mother. I tried to get him to sing when he was at home, he was NOT interested. I think he's discovered a wonderful talent while on his mission. Maybe he'll sing with me one day when he gets home.
It is Elder Tucker's 19th Birthday today. We love him so much. We are so, so happy for him. I'm not sure if I've ever seen A.J. as happy as he is now as a missionary. He has made this transition so well. It's not all easy, but he loves people, he works hard, and he really is a humble servant of our savior, Jesus Christ. We are just giddy about it all. We love him so much, of course we miss him, but we just feel so blessed. Truly the Lord is strengthening him and we have felt so blessed as well. We are so grateful for Elder Tucker's service as a missionary so far and CANNOT wait to talk to him on Mother's Day. I love the calendar and the pictures in them, they turned out so well. It is just so awesome. I love the pictures of me and Jaxon at the airport when I was leaving, and me with Sandra Grant, the Crete photos are fun: as we are actually all smiling. I love the pictures of our family at the temple. And tell Emily I love her skirt, it looks amazing on her, and it looks like Dallin is wearing skinny pants?! But I still love the photos. You did a really good job on the calendar, I really like it. I love how I have a 4 inch power gap between my tie and my belt on that picture of me at the London temple. I’ve learned to overcome this!
I’m loving these pants that you sent me, they both fit well, there is a non slick elastic band, will help keep shirts from being untucked. I loved the big card you all drew one, thanks so much. I love you all so much, and I absolutely love the calendar and the picture Jaxon sent me. The golf pants fit great and they are super cool. Thank you so much. I love you! Not much happened this week, it’s been a bit slow for a little bit because we have had so many baptisms. Everyone in our teaching pool were baptized except Danielle and Garland. Garland, we went to see him. He got pulled over for texting and driving, he gave the cop attitude, settled out of court, but was on parole and he’ll be going to jail for 50-60 days. I am so bummed about this. He’s been doing so well and changing so much. By the time he gets out, I doubt I’ll be here.
We’re teaching a couple new people in our family wards. This one kid looks a lot like Theo, my friend from the college in London. That guy with a beard. Kind of cool. I love you all. Tell Emily I’ll get her birthday package out soon. Just haven’t had time. I love you all, ba-bye Jessica got baptized this Saturday. She has a super great testimony. I sang again at her baptism. It went a lot better than last time. I made her cry, and she couldn't stop. It was probably because it was THAT bad. ha ha ha.
Housekeeping: I am planning on getting a bike ASAP. Can you make sure I have enough in my account to pay for it? Also I'm going to be getting a Nevada license, that will cost $50 too. Sorry. |
