My week has been great! Nicole is planning on moving, she says she wants to talk to the missionaries when she goes, so we'll set up missionaries for her where she goes. The Sherwoods are doing well and progressing, I think we'll set up a baptism date soon. The mom grew up in a family that was more atheist than anything, she wasn't allowed to read scriptures. Her parents were mad at her and her husband when they found them reading the scriptures. She's been a bit closed off, she's kind of putting herself out there, but she's being a lot more trusting, and we can just see walls coming down!
I'm glad to hear that my letter home helped Mrs. Sakuda. School was NOT easy. Even when it was hard, she was willing to help, and compromise, and having that made school tolerable. It wasn't my way or the highway, even though I gave them that sometimes, for which I am sorry now. I love having voice technology that can read to me and I can record my thoughts and it can print it! What a blessing.
Do you know you can ask Siri how many days until the 5th of July, and she will tell you! Oh, 4 months as of the 5th. There's a new Mission President coming in like 2 days before I go home. They gave me the decision to come home either June 17th or July 5th, and because of the extra week they're adding to the MTC. I decided to stay until the 5th. Let me explain my reasoning, I told the Lord I would give 2 years. I'm not a perfect missionary all the time, I'm not effective all the time, I slip up, I goof off from time to time. I can afford to give a little more time, to assure myself, that I've given the Lord my full 2 years! I'm excited to come home, but I'm happy to stay! Even though I'll get my exit interview with a new President, he won't know anything about me. But, ya know, I didn't come out to have an interview with the mission president, I'm here to be the best missionary that I can be!
One of my favorite things about my first area, the Desert View Ward, was that there was a ghetto, the Palms, the Rio, everything from Spring Mtn, to Cactus, and the FWY to Decatur was my first area, and it had a lot of people in it. And when I went out, I could count on seeing people in the street every 5 minutes to 5 seconds, I never went wanting for people to talk to. Out here, it's a pretty small town, so you can't really street contact. But guess what? They have a fair! And this fair is so big that there's traffic from Vegas to here. I love this place already, but if I can have the chance to have that kind of traffic with people and get to talk to as many people as possible, it will be so enjoyable!
Now that I'm thinking about it, Jaxon's 8! Holy cow! He must have changed a ton. Man, I miss that kid, I really and truly do!
P-day is supposed to be over by 5pm, and I'm dreading P-days sometime. There's just so much to get done! After you get all your scripture study done by 10am, you need to get the apartment clean, emails done, shopping. And I just want to play my guitar, it's the one day a week I can.
We have the Moapa ward now, it's huge, it makes Logandale look like an ant and al the Vegas ward look like dots. This ward is gigantic, it's awesome. There's this Mali family, They've invited us to this luau-type thing, they're roasting a pig next Saturday, I'm looking forward to that. They are just super super nice people, they're kind, sweet, just so nice, There home is peaceful. I'm like, where have you been my whole mission.
Love you.
