Hi Mom and Dad,
I have been so busy. I haven’t been able to write or email. I want you to know that I’m doing great. I am learning lots and I am grateful to be here.
My first companion is Elder Gee. He was the only member of the church in his high school, and he has a scholarship for basketball.
The fourth of July was an amazing experience, but I can’t write about it because I do not have enough time.
I’m starting to see what dad said by the days are long, but they go by fast. I am not as homesick as I thought I would be. I love it here. There is no place else I would want to be right now. I am going to work hard.
Thanks for the mail, it made me happy. Thank you, I will send pictures when I have enough time. I love you, BYE
What a relief it was to get this email! We were so concerned and unsure how AJ would do with the demands of the Missionary Training Center (MTC). Jason and I read his email on my phone on a train in London. And we just wept. Like a weight had been lifted. He's well! He's ok. He didn't share much, but clearly he shared everything WE needed to hear.
A Letter We Received in the Post from AJ
I have learned so much here, and am happy to be here. I would like to thank you all for the mail, it really made me happy. Thank you.
The Fourth of July was an amazing experience. We watched 17 Miracles before the fireworks. It was great to be in the USA. It was a good day.
I room with two other Elders. Elder Bassett and Elder Lloyd (that reminds me of Jaxon and Ninjago.
My companion and I were called as zone leaders. It will be harder; but it will push me to be better. I am working on being the best missionary possible.
I haven't written much, I have been busy. I am looking forward to your letters and emails.
Thank you,
Love you
Elder Tucker

And this is A.J. with Christine Meacham on his first day in Vegas Monday. Her son served his first 7 months here in South London and we had him over all the time. He even had Christmas with us. He fit in well with our Tucker family! And just like that AJ was sent to serve in his family's mission area in Vegas. How cool is that. NOT a coincidence!
